Third-party
Web sites that provide online meeting places for alumni can
keep former classmates in touch even if the group graduated
years before the unwinding of the World Wide Web.
The High School Alumni Web page and Alumni.net offer about the
same degree of utility: Either site encourages people to register
for free, but you can still search for names without registering
first. Both sites also hide the e-mail addresses of alumni from
spammers by requiring correspondents either to register first
or relay a message by filling out a form at the site.
The site for high school alumni has more than 30 high schools
in Milwaukee, including Marquette University High School, St.
Joan Antida High School and Washington High School.
For most people, the better site will be the one with more people
listed from their alma maters. It's a popularity contest, much
like most of high school itself.
